Young People Elocution

I love teaching young people elocution and interview techniques for their 11+ or their university interviews, or for general confidence and improved communication skills.

It’s exciting to watch them blossom with confidence and have fun learning.

I used to teach 3yr olds to 18 year olds at a drama school and I loved it – putting on plays at the end of terms – for friends and families – lots of laughs and hard work but all worth it 🙂

Learning to speak clearly and confidently, while looking focused and feeling secure, is a valuable skill that makes all of our lives easier.

Young People and University Entrance

Different university have different styles of interviews, but good body language and confidence whilst answering questions, in a logical, well articulated, succinct manner with excellent diction, are needed for all.

Having taught many young people over the years to go into further education, it is a great pleasure to see them succeed and follow their dreams.

Young People and the 11+ 12+ and 13+

I have taught young people interview technique for senior school entrance and the 11+, 12+ and 13+ improving their body language,  answering skills and voice projection.

in addition, when I teach young people elocution not taking exams,  I am always happy to involve whatever they are doing at school, such as using their drama or English work as vehicles, as young people have so much pressure at school or university that it is good to integrate their work so that they can enjoy some benefit immediately.

General Confidence

Some young people need some extra help with their confidence.

For whatever reason, a speech impediment, shyness, insecurity, anxiety, mixed accents from parents or changing locations, some young people need a little nurturing,  encouragement and speech techniques, to improve their communication skills.

They need this extra boost to help them develop into confident young adults.

It’s no good being the best but also being the best kept secret!

They need to speak clearly and audibly to optimise their chances at school and the outside world.

Different Purposes or Vehicles, for Learning Elocution Techniques

  1. Focused Elocution – learning how to pronounce letters – consonants and vowels clearly – so that anyone listening to them, will understand what they have just said
  2. Using poetry or prose for reciting as a performance piece (they don’t have to perform it to anyone if they don’t want to!)
  3. Using theatrical monolgues (short or long speeches for one person)
  4. School presentations
  5.  School or University Entrance Interview Skills
  6. And/or anything else the caring adult wishes me to do!

Sadly I didn’t have children so relish the opportunity to work with young people and give them all the encouragement and skills to succeed and feel confident and happy with all their endeavours.

Thank you for reading 🙂
