Rachel Preece - Public Speaking - the oneDear

I hope you had a great summer and are enjoying this lovely sunny autumn.

For September’s Elocution and Globally Understood English homework,  I have chosen a selection of audio productions – something for everyone – to enjoy listening, to well enunciated English

Firstly, I have chosen a couple of great plays, with excellent voices and some very good acting.  Both entertaining and informative in completely different ways.

The first is a three part series about the French Revolution written by the  talented Hilary Mantel who wrote the highly acclaimed series Wolf Hall for the BBC and the second is  an evocative modern drama about the mass immigration crisis.

The third program which I personally found fascinating, shocking and humbling is about the Jewish children who came to England at the beginning of WW2,  hoping for temporary accommodation before they could be reunited with their families once more. They were put on trains by their immensely brave parents, most of whom were then shot or killed in concentration camps. Apart from the obviously momentous content, the voices show how clearly one can change one’s accent to be understood… if one needs to do so.

Best wishes and I look forward to seeing you soon..
